Fascinating and informative about India. Definitely a book to read next.

Catching up with earlier stuff: thanks (kinda) for the mention of Kaputt by Curzio Malaparte. I say 'kinda' because the book is truly shocking and sometimes hard to read! While reading my breath gets tighter and eyes wider in disbelief at the terror and carnage and, most of all, at the matter-of-fact attitude of the Nazis that they are bringing glorious and superior German culture to a completely inferior world. Somehow Malaparte as observer remains twisted but weirdly charming.
